Term:  Support Claims

Support Claims—are made by dependants entitled to receive or receiving support. Support claims need to be resolved before estates can be distributed. Mediation and litigation can resolve these disputes. Common law spouses do not have any rights to elect or to inherit in an Ontario intestate estate. Married spouses do inherit in an intestacy.
