Term:  Renounce

Renounce—executors can refuse or decline the job by renouncing. To renounce, you sign forms filed with courts before you start work as executor. You can choose not to assume any responsibility because of your age, illness, lack of time or inability to act. To renounce, obtain legal advice. Sign a form, file it with the court and notify persons named in the will who act as backup executors.
